The Opera At A Glance

The opera is a musical theater, a musical composition that includes singing and stage action at the same time. The dialogues of the opera actors are sung while the song is accompanied by an orchestra. As a genre it is considered one of the most important musical achievements of Western civilization and remains one of the most popular musical genres.

The spectacle "happens" on the stage. We all know that theater is an illusion. Everything that happens on the stage is fake, but we identify with what the actors are playing, it makes us laugh, move, resent, applaud. The orchestra in the opera plays in a space (pit) located in front and a little lower than the stage. The musicians are divided into three groups: The strings: violins, violas, cello and double bass. The woodwinds: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon and Clarinet, Brass: Trumpet, Trombone & Tuba. Percussion: Classical Drums, Cymbals, Grancasa, Triangle, Xylophone and more.

The conductor is the man who holds a baton and waves it in front of the orchestra. His role is very important because he keeps the rhythm coordinating everyone and shows the basic indications of interpretation of the musical work. Without his magic wand, coordination cannot exist.

The singers in the opera must have a double skill. To sing with a nice and correct voice. This requires not only a beautiful natural voice, but also long-term study similar to musicians. In addition they have to act as good actors. That is, to have a dramatic education.
